MSc Hellen Santos will have her doctoral dissertation on Friday 15th of December at at 12 o’clock in the lecture hall Arcanum 1.
The title of the thesis is “Halogen hectorites: Smectites designed to luminesce” and concerns design and preparation of these synthetic clay minerals and the studies how they could be used as optical materials.
Leena joined us and the Detection Technology Group for the Tekes project SENSOGLOW. She will be working as a project researcher and is mainly supervised by DTG leader Harri Härmä.

Isabella and Minnea are at the Shift 2017 conference in Tenerife, Spain presenting their research topics (conference WWW). The conference and its name are referring to spectral shaping of light and the topics range from applications in energy and photochemistry to biomedical applications.

We have the pleasure of hosting our collaborating doctoral candidate Nirajan Ojha from the Photonic Glasses group led by Laeticia Petit from Tampere University of Technology. He will be with us for a few days working with Minnea Tuomisto and hopefully they will have some luminescent pictures for us in the future.
Our inter-department collaboration has reached a new level as we borrow Tanja from Detection Technology group (www) as a researcher in the Tekes project SENSOGLOW. Tanja is mainly supervised by the DTG leader Harri Härmä and is working for the project from September through November.
